Memories of Barry

Created by Brian 2 years ago

It is with great sadness that I learn my friend Barry has passed away.  I remember this lovely man from an association of some 30 years when we both involved with the Derby Chamber of Trade.  Barry was a director of that organisation and brought good sense and wise council to its board.

Barry was also involved in many other community organisations to which he devoted his time so generously seeking nothing in return other than the pleasure of bringing benefit and happiness to those who needed a little help along the way.

Barry took a part in helping the supporters who were raising funds for the purchase and erection of the village clock in Borrowash.  Without Barry I am certain that many obstacles may have prevented a successful conclusion to this very worthwhile project.  Today that clock stands proudly in the village centre and to me is a constant reminder of a quiet humble man who made such a major contribution to life of so many more.

I always refer to the clock as the 'Barry Wilson Clock'.  Thank you Barry for being such a kind and caring friend to so many.
